AN INTEGRATED APPROACH
FASCIA is the connective tissue between your muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. It makes up your potential for pain-free movement.
Fascial restrictions come from previous injury, stresses or traumas on the body. Over time these restrictions formulate poor movement patterns and can cause mysterious pains throughout the body's fascial system.
Restoring fascial glide between these tissues means enhancing movement quality and awareness of the position of the body, achieving a functional and efficient movement pattern. This relieves tension, reduces pain, anxiety, and fatigue, improves circulation, digestion, and decompress neural tension.
I use a succession of fascia manipulation techniques combined with movement to restore a complete body function. Delivering the most beneficial treatment to the individual for optimal healing.
Clinical Pilates

Changing a movement pattern can be a long and tiring process. I can't express more how necessary it is to have diversity in your movement program for a successful change to your habits. While incorporating movement into my bodywork I also offer movement only sessions.
My Pilates based movement programs are designed to help you towards that successful habitual change in your movement.
It provides a platform for motivation, the opportunity learn about your individual bio-mechanics and have your intrinsic movement patterns corrected through movement analysis and a corrective excersize program.
Myofascia Massage

Myofascia massage compliments my other treatments. For maintenance of the regular client or the passing tourist, keeping tissues hydrated, reducing fatigue with no specific structural goals. A 90min session is suggested for a full body treatment.
Lubricating fascia sets up the environment for cellular recovery and for adaptability in movement which gives the body the ability to have a positive experience in both sport and daily life.
Myofascial restrictions can cause: pain, limited motion, poor shock absorption, dehydration of tissues and joint stiffness.
Therefore a body that is malleable and adaptive will be affected less by both physical and emotional stress.
Integrated Package

So let's get to the bottom of that niggling pain you never seem to resolve. Here we incorporate 5 bodywork sessions with movement analysis to break down faulty movement patterns that have evolved over years of injury or stress.
Whilst most rehabilitation happens during time of injury there is not much focus on addressing the movement compensations gained because of that injury, post injury. If you have had to compensate during an injury like limp, use a crutch or a sling, you have most likely developed a compensatory pattern that is now ingrained into your muscle memory that has to be un-learnt.
A detailed initial 2-hour consultation, deep fascial release and muscle activation followed with a personalised re-education program between sessions.
Why 5? Movement deficiencies formulate in compensation layers and it takes conditioning and time to change a habit. I suggest 2-3 weeks between sessions MAX! You need to be committed and check your schedule before signing up for this one.
However, the result is to give you back the control and knowing how to move pain-free, be efficient in sport and move towards improved function.
Pre & Post Natal

This is a wonderful way to promote overall wellness, reduce stress for both mother and baby as the demands on the body increase. I also provide core and pelvic floor rehabilitation post birth, to recover and re-balance muscle tone and restore scared tissues.
In this session we address the normal discomforts experienced during and after pregnancy such as; backaches, pelvic adaptations, stiffness, cramps, headaches and swelling. Reducing stress on weight-bearing joints, encouraging circulation, relax nervous tension, aiding in sleep and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.
I take extra care to ensure mother is comfortable, adapting her position with an adjustable table so she can be in side lying or sitting with pillows and props.
